Lucky Investments: mutual funds, on the customer’s phone

A secure mobile investing app that brings mutual fund investing to the customer's phone.

Lucky Investments wanted to give investors a modern, secure way to manage their mutual fund investments from their phones. FetchSky designed and built a mobile app for existing investors and for people who are new to investing, together with an admin portal for the Lucky Investments team.

In short

  • FetchSky designed and built the Lucky Investments investor app for Android and iOS, with an admin portal.
  • The Lucky Investments app is built in React Native with Node.js, MySQL and Firebase, and integrates KuickPay, RAAST, JazzCash, Easypaisa and 1Link.

The challenge

What needed solving?

Investing in mutual funds often involves paperwork, branch visits and unfamiliar jargon. Lucky Investments needed an app that could serve two very different groups:

  • Existing investors who want to see their portfolio, move money and download statements at any time.
  • First-time investors who need a simple way to sign up, understand how funds work and see how they perform.

Because the app handles real money and personal identity data, it also had to be fast, reliable and secure.

Our solution

What did we build?

A single app that covers the full investor journey, from learning about funds to managing a portfolio.

  • Secure access

Login with username, password and verification code, protected by token-based authentication and encrypted data transmission.

  • Portfolio dashboard

Fund-wise holdings, current NAVs, recent transactions and graphical portfolio views in one place.

  • Complete transactions

Investors can buy units, redeem, convert between funds and transfer between folios, with charges, limits and payment options shown clearly.

  • Statements and reports

Custom account statements, tax documents and investment certificates, downloadable as PDFs.

  • Digital onboarding

New investors can open an account in the app, with on-device text recognition that reads identity documents to pre-fill the form.

  • Local payment options

Integration with KuickPay, RAAST, JazzCash, Easypaisa and 1Link for bank transfers and bill payments.

  • Explore without logging in

Anyone can browse investor education, fund manager reports, NAV history and fund performance, and see where to invest.

  • Profile and notifications

Investors can update their details and receive push notifications for NAV updates and market alerts.

Making investing easier to learn

To help newcomers feel confident, the app includes a guided assistant and learning tools:

  • 24/7 FAQ chatbot answering common questions on KYC, loads, taxation and capital gains tax.
  • Practice mode: a simulation where users get virtual funds and try buying, redeeming and converting using live NAV data, with no real money at risk.
  • Fund suggestions: a short risk-profile questionnaire and goal-based planning (such as retirement or a child’s education) point users to suitable fund types.
  • Fund comparison: side-by-side returns, NAV, ratings and risk levels, plus downloadable fact sheets.
  • Lead capture and support: contact details from prospective investors flow to the admin portal, and complaints can be submitted in the app and forwarded to the Lucky Investments team.

Built for the business too

The admin portal gives the Lucky Investments team visibility and control. It includes crash and user logs, along with the ability to switch app features on or off without releasing a new version, and settings for integrations such as the complaints endpoint.

How we built it

How did we build it?

The team worked in an agile process, with design first and development in functional modules. React Native allowed one codebase to serve both Android and iOS, with a Node.js back office and MySQL database. FetchSky also handled testing (functional, regression and user acceptance) and publishing to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The outcome

What changed?

Lucky Investments now has a single, secure mobile channel for investors to open accounts, invest, redeem and track their portfolio, while giving prospective investors an easy way to learn and get started.
